Powerproject Cloud Concurrent Licensing

Powerproject Cloud Concurrent Licensing

Beginning in June 2021, cloud concurrent licensing will be available for Version 16. It works in a similar way to the single-user cloud licensing introduced in version 15.0.02, released in 2020. Powerproject is licensed using a serial number and product key distributed by Elecosoft to the purchaser/end user. End users will then be linked to the license pool via the internet (an internet connection is required to open Powerproject). Once the user closes out of Powerproject, the license is released back into the pool for another user.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does cloud concurrent licensing work?

Cloud concurrent licensing works in a similar way to single-user cloud licensing introduced in version 15.0.02, released in the second half of 2020.

Powerproject is licensed using a serial number and product key. These serial numbers and product keys are distributed by us (Elecosoft) to you, the purchaser/ end-user.

Once the end-user inputs the serial number and product key at start-up our licensing system then links the device with your customer license pool via the cloud. End-users will require an internet connection to open Powerproject.

The license from the pool is allocated to that end-user until they fully close Powerproject on that machine, even if their internet connection drops out in the meantime. It will only be released back into the pool if the user closes Powerproject when they have an internet connection present, otherwise, the license will be retained until a connection is re-established.

Do I need an internet connection to get started with Cloud Concurrent Licensing?

Yes, you will need an internet connection to open Powerproject. This is so Powerproject can connect to the cloud and manage license availability within your organization.

You will also need an internet connection to successfully return the license to the shared pool when closing Powerproject.

What is a customer license pool?

A customer license pool contains the number of concurrent licenses an organization can utilize at any one time. The number of licenses available within your customer pool will depend on the number of licenses you have purchased. When the need arises, you can easily add more licenses to your license pool.

Does Cloud Concurrent Licensing work in a Citrix/ equivalent setup?

Yes – licenses are per user, per machine, so can be used in a Citrix or equivalent setting. This means a license will be consumed per Citrix session.
